The solution pump's one job is to push cleaning solution from the tank to the floor at the right pressure. Sounds simple, but when it stops — or spits, or weakens — the whole cleaning process stops with it. The brush is still spinning, the machine is still moving, but you're just dry-scrubbing at that point. That's a lot of expense to push dust around.
